How Did Blouch Performance Turbo Start:
Blouch Performance Turbo was founded by Robert Blouch Sr. in February 1980. His son, Bob Jr., joined the business in 1990 and spearheaded the development of bolt-on upgrade turbos for the emerging four cylinder sport compact market.
In 1996, Blouch Performance Turbo became a Mitsubishi Turbo distributor that further fueled the development of bolt-on upgrades for the ever popular DSMs. The horsepower potential of those turbos was greatly increased by installing Garrett compressors and turbines that in many ways were ahead of their time.
In 2000, BPT became an IHI Turbo distributor that prompted the development of upgrade turbochargers for the emerging Subaru WRX and STi market. In 2006, Blouch Performance Turbo was added to the elite group of Garrett Performance distributors for Garrett Performance turbochargers and related products and at that time was the only Garrett Performance distributor on the East Coast.
Today, Blouch Performance Turbo offers a complete line-up of custom performance bolt-on upgrades for popular vehicles such as the Subaru WRX/STi , Mitsubishi EVO VIII, IX and X, Porsche 996 and 997, Mitsubishi 3000GT, and Dodge SRT4 and Caliber. The components used in these upgrades are state-of-the art such as fully machined billet compressors with advanced aero, custom turbine wheel and shaft assemblies, and custom compressor and turbine housing castings that are machined in-house on our own CNC equipment.
Knowledge & Experience:
Blouch Performance Turbo has over 35 years of turbocharger rebuilding and upgrade experience. We have witnessed the evolution of many popular turbo models including the Garrett T2/T3/T4, Mitsubishi TD04/05 and the IHI RHB5/RHF5 series. In fact, Blouch Turbo has been rebuilding and upgrading turbochargers before the start and development of many of the popular turbocharger companies today and, at times, has played an important role in that development. And while turbo models have changed from 1980 to present, the fundamentals of successful turbo rebuilding have not. Careful disassembly, proper cleaning methods, careful measurement, precision machine shop work/balancing, and great attention to detail during final assembly all play a critical role in successful turbocharger rebuilding and upgrading.
