High-performance turbos and superchargers
When you want to maximise use of your fuel, ProSpeed Racing has exactly what you need to get going. Our premium products pressurise air flow, helping your vehicle burn fuel at an optimal rate so you can fully power up.
With brands like COBB, Torque Solutions and Mitsubishi in our collection, premium quality products are within easy reach. Some models suit universal use – but always do your research first to find the best option for your vehicle. It could make all the difference on the track.
How much HP will a turbo add?
The boost in horsepower varies across car makes and models, as well as the fuel you use.
As a rough idea, an engine can gain between 15-35 HP per pound of boost. Stock models can usually handle between 2-4 pounds. That means you’re adding at least 30 HP when you enhance air flow. Upgrading parts with elements like air intakes can increase the gain even more, so if that’s your goal, it’s worth looking into our range.
Two cylinders will give you more horsepower than one. These are especially useful for v-shaped engines, but the benefits aren’t limited to such instances. Both parallel and sequential systems exist – and you might find that one works better than the other.
Are turbos better than superchargers?
While both of these components increase horsepower, the way they do this is very different; and results vary across automobiles.
The former uses the exhaust to spool up a turbine, which then activates a compressor to bring more air flow through. The latter, by contrast, works entirely within the engine, relying on mechanical means to rotate the compressor.
The exhaust gas route is more efficient, making use of otherwise wasted emissions – but it’s also slower, so keep that in mind. Superchargers, on the other hand, rely on RPM and have no lag as they’re not reliant on the build-up of exhaust fumes.
These are just a few factors to consider when making your choice. ‘Better’ is always in the eyes of the beholder. Think about what you want out of your ride, and use that as a basis for decision-making.
Can you have a turbo and a supercharger on your vehicle?
Yes, you can – it’s called a twincharger. This component offers the best of both worlds, reducing lag without taxing your engine. If you need to cover a wide RPM range and maximise performance to speed ahead from 0 to max, this is the right solution for you.
Like single components, the twin option will work best with quality intercoolers fueling air to generate spooling for the higher RPMs. The technology is quite advanced, and really only used for the racetrack, so think about your use case before you decide to invest in the best of the best.
Check out our all-inclusive kits
When you want an easy way to amplify air flow, our kits can help. These include everything you need to get started and tweak your vehicle for optimum performance, without delving too deep into individual components.
That said, you’ll always find premium-grade single pieces that are made to be configured at ProSpeed. Some vehicles may be able to boost HP even further with turbo blankets that increase spooling speed. If every pound of HP matters to you, this might just be the booster that you need to get ahead.
There are many factors involved in optimising the performance of your engine, especially if there’s been prior customisation with aftermarket products. The best thing to do is order parts and test them out on your car. Go ahead, try it out. We’re here to support you with the best products in the business.
