THE AEM DIESEL WATER/METHANOL INJECTION SYSTEM ADVANTAGE

Water/methanol injection (WMI) systems reduce air inlet temps and enhance combustion efficiency on turbo Diesel applications, which allows an engine to deliver more power with less effort. Water/methanol injection also offers a host of benefits that promote engine longevity, including the reduction of carbon deposits left by a Diesel's exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system. AEM's Water/Methanol Injection Systems for turbo Diesel trucks and SUVs utilize the most robust hardware combined with more advanced features than any other comparably priced water/methanol injection system.

Water/Methanol for Diesels of all Boost Levels:

AEM Electronics offers two different water/methanol controller designs for HD and Diesel trucks:

One is a Boost Dependent HD Controller and has an on-board MAP sensor (up to 40 PSI) with a molded in nipple for a boost hose pickup (PN 30-3301 with 5 gallon tank, PN 30-3303 tank-less).

The second HD controller features a multiple input design. The Multi-Input controller can be programmed to work with a 0-5v signal from an external MAP sensor for Diesels running over 40 PSI of boost, or with a frequency based Injector Duty Cycle (IDC) signal, frequency-based mass airflow (MAF), or 0-5v voltage-based MAF signal (PN 30-3351 with 5 gallon tank, PN 30-3352 tank-less).

Note: FOR OPTIMUM RESULTS, ALL WATER/METHANOL INJECTION SYSTEMS AND GAUGES SHOULD BE RUN WITH AN AEM INLINE FILTER (AEM PART #30-3003)

Robust, Easy to Use Controllers:

The new HD controller designs feature large, turn-resistant knobs and larger numbering to easily set accurate start and full activation points, with covered status LED and test buttons for added splash resistance. A plug is integrated into the HD controller housings for mating to the redesigned wiring harness's positive-lock connector. The Boost Dependent HD controller housing (PN 30-3301 w/ 5 gallon tank, PN 30-3303 full kit without tank) has a molded-in, barbed nipple to accept a boost hose (up to 40 PSI) and a wiring legend on the back. The Multi-Input controller (PN 30-3351 w/ 5 gallon tank, PN 30-3352 full kit without tank) has an easy-to-remove plug covering the programming dipswitches and a programming legend on the back for the 0-5v and frequency based settings. Both controller housings feature an easy to access integrated fuse and molded mounting tabs.

Innovative Injector Design Delivers Faster Cooling with Less Fluid Used

Our breakthrough injector design uses unique Swirl Generator Technology that improves atomization to deliver faster inlet temp cooling and uses less fluid to maintain inlet air cooling. We include three Swirl Generators that deliver 250cc, 500cc, and 1000cc of flow. The AEM V3 WMI injector is included in every AEM Water/Methanol injection kit and is a direct replacement/upgrade for the V2 injector in older systems (V3 Injector PN 30-3315).

In testing at AEM, the new V3 250cc WMI nozzle and the V2 250cc WMI nozzle both achieved a 90-degree inlet temp reduction; however, the V3 nozzle design achieved this reduction nearly 6.5 seconds faster. Consider that on an average sportsman drag car this can represent close to 40% of track time. On a road race car, applying more timing 6.5 seconds faster can mean a critical time to pass on a corner exit.

We then tested a V3 250cc injector against a V2 500cc injector to see if the larger V2 injector would improve cooling speed. The V2 500cc injector achieved nearly identical cooling speed as the V3 250cc injector, but it required almost 44% more fluid to achieve the same cooling. Less fluid used means fewer refills of your WMI tank and less money spent refilling it. Using the V2 500cc nozzle with a one-gallon tank, you will get close to 7 minutes and 50 seconds of run time at full pressure. Using the V3 250cc nozzle with a one-gallon tank, you will get 13 minutes and 30 seconds of run time at full pressure.

Simplified Wiring:

The wiring harnesses for AEM's Water/Methanol Injection kits are terminated with a positive-lock connector on one end and have color-coded wires to ease installation. Both the power and ground wires for the pump are included in the harness which simplifies the wiring process and eliminates any chance of the pump accidentally activating from a short in the system. An additional wire is included for adding an optional on/off solenoid to stop fluid flow when the system is inactive.

Integrated Boost Safe Feature:

The controllers for AEM's Water Methanol systems include an integrated "Boost Safe" output feature that monitors the entire injection system and triggers a ground signal via an output if it detects a voltage-related error (short, bad connection, broken wire, overheated pump, high or low voltage signal, etc.), allowing users to define their failsafe strategy from something as simple as flashing a warning light to more advanced strategies like pulling boost or ignition, or switching fuel maps on a standalone engine management system. Combined with the integral and highly accurate conductive low-fluid switch in the tank, "Boost Safe" can also put your engine in safe mode before the system runs dry. This exclusive feature is found only on AEM Water/Methanol Injection Systems.

Heavy-Duty High Pressure Injection Pump:

AEM's internally-bypassed water/methanol injection pump does not cycle on an off and provides quiet, smooth operation. It features robust construction including integral hose fittings, EPDM seals and a Santoprene diaphragm that provides consistent and reliable fluid delivery.

Low-Profile 5 Gallon Tank:

AEM's Diesel Water/Meth systems are available with or without a low-profile 5 gallon tank. The 5 Gallon tank includes a high-tech conductive low fluid level indicator with a positive lock connector and color matched wires to the wiring harness, and baffles to reduce fluid slosh.

WATER/METHANOL INJECTION ADVANTAGES FOR DIESEL ENGINES:

Reduces Air Inlet Charge Temps:

Water/methanol's "liquid intercooling" effect on turbo Diesel engines can reduce air charge temps by as much as 100 degrees, and deliver a more oxygen-rich air charge.

Enhances Combustion & Efficiency:

In addition to cooling air inlet temps, as the water absorbs heat in the combustion chamber and converts to steam, the steam's expansion rate increases the mean effective cylinder pressure without causing dangerous pressure spikes. This effective increase in cylinder pressure combined with methanol's promotion of complete combustion allows your Diesel engine to burn fuel more completely. When fuel is being burned more completely less is wasted, which can increase fuel economy.

REDUCES EXHAUST GAS TEMPERATURES (EGTs):

Because Diesel vehicles using water/methanol injection burn fuel more completely, less un-burnt fuel is present in the exhaust manifold where it can flash ignite to increase EGTs and create particulate matter (soot). Water/methanol injection eliminates this secondary combustion of raw fuel in the exhaust manifold to reduce EGTs by up to 250 degrees, and reduces harmful particulates to extend engine life (and that expensive particulate filter).
