CBD08 stands for "Can Bus Distribution" with 8 connections - what is this module needed for?
CAN bus connections in vehicles can sometimes pose significant challenges for our customers. First, the CAN bus cables must be laid and connected as elegantly as possible. The devices usually also require a power supply, and the CAN bus termination must also be installed somehow.
In addition, there are increasingly several CAN buses for different requirements - drive CAN bus, comfort CAN bus, one for programming (USB2CAN), etc. For this application, CANchecked has developed a small add-on module with eight connectors. Each connector carries four wires: CAN High, CAN Low, 12V, and ground.

The CBD08 Hardware
Measuring just 96x47x33mm, the box is very compact and fits anywhere. The sockets are modeled after the widely used DTM04-4P. Matching mating connectors are the DTM06-4S, which can be optionally purchased as a set of four under order number CC22101. We've drilled two holes in the center for mounting. Use the two included screws for this.
CBD08 configuration
Behind the lower cover, the jumpers are located on the circuit board:
- On the left side, JP3 and JP4 connect both CAN buses (CAN Bus 1 and CAN Bus 2). If the two jumpers are removed, both CAN buses are separated, each with 4 connections.
- JP1 activates the Can Bus termination for Can Bus 1
- JP2 activates the Can Bus termination for Can Bus 2

Cabling
The box can optionally be equipped with a 12V/ground supply line. This can then be tapped from the other sockets and thus power the end devices. However, connected devices with higher power consumption should not be powered by the device. Therefore, only connect them with both CAN bus lines and create a separate power supply.
If you choose the standard configuration, all 8 CAN bus ports are connected to each other.
