Description
Introducing the CSF Racing Large Universal Single-Pass Oil Cooler, the latest innovation in high-performance cooling solutions. This product integrates cutting-edge design and functionality, enhancing various applications such as engine oil, transmission oil, power steering, and differential cooling.
CSF has redefined the oil cooler market with its unique features, setting this model apart from traditional options. It provides flexibility with a more conventional inlet and outlet orientation, making it easier to install in constrained spaces.
The single-pass design retains the exceptional efficiency and durability of CSF’s renowned Bar/Plate cores, yet adapts to facilitate vertical connections, ensuring optimal fluid flow and routing.
Design & Engineering
CSF’s first 6 oil coolers were designed to have many distinct advantages over conventional plate-type/stacked style oil coolers. The long shape allowed them to be placed in tighter spaces or different areas of the vehicle that don’t have much vertical surface area. Inlet/outlet port placement also made routing lines easier in many setups.
However, for this new oil cooler, CSF went with a more traditional inlet/outlet orientation. The new single pass design features the same High Efficiency & Rugged Durability Bar/Plate Core as our best selling line of oil coolers, but with vertically oriented inlet and outlet connections.
Aero-Flow Bar/Plate Core
The new oil cooler features CSF’s unique “Aero-Flow” Bar Design. This core design offers weight savings over traditional bar/plate cores without sacrificing durability. CSF’s proprietary design offers maximum oil and airflow through the core.
Inlet/Outlet Connections
The CSF #8371 uses the same M22 x 1.5 Inlet/Outlet connections as most of the CSF Oil Coolers. This threat pitch offers a huge variety of connection options while maintaining the best possible flow characteristics. With a nominal diameter of 22mm, the M22 x 1.5 threaded bungs are large enough to work with adapter fittings as large as -16AN. CSF also included two 1/8 NPT Ports on each tank for bleeding or temperature sensors.
Mounting Holes
All CSF Oil Coolers utilize a 3 hole mounting system on ends of the core. The position and orientation allows for a wide variety of mounting options. The M8 x 1.25 thread pitch offers more than enough tensile and sheeting strength for extreme durability and easy to source hardware.
The oil cooler can be clocked in any orientation for mounting. This oil cooler is used on the CSF Ford GT Transaxle Oil Cooler (CSF #8375) mounted in a sideway configuration. However, a vertical orientation with the inlet/outlets pointed up or down will be the most common use base for most universal applications.
CSF vs the Competition
CSF oil coolers are much more robust, durable, and can withstand a higher peak burst rate than common brazed plate-type/stacked designs. This allows the cooler to be mounted in areas that might get high debris (front fascia, diff cooler, side vents, etc). When using a conventional oil cooler, the type of mounting locations are often not considered due to the risk of damage. The CSF oil cooler is designed to withstand a tremendous amount of vibration and debris. You can even stand on it!
