There are many variables to consider when participating in a track or autocross event. One of the most important aspects is your braking system and the stopping power available at any given time. Proper braking is crucial for safety and performance. Aggressive driving generates significant heat in your braking system due to frequent and intense use. Problems arise when that heat transfers into your brake calipers, causing them to overheat. When this happens, the fluid inside your calipers can reach its maximum temperature and start to boil. This boiling fluid can lead to brake fade, reducing the effectiveness of your braking system and potentially creating dangerous situations on the track.
One solution is to place a thermal barrier between the back of the pad and the caliper piston, which slows the transfer of heat into the caliper and fluid. FactionFab Titanium Brake Shims do just that. Available for a wide range of Subaru applications, FactionFab Brake Shims are an easy way to protect against fading brakes and potential brake failure.
