Description
The GFB VTA T9404 is a bolt-on performance blow-off valve solution designed specifically for Ford vehicles equipped with an electronic factory diverter valve. It delivers an unmistakably aggressive blow-off sound while improving throttle response, boost control, and long-term reliability.
Unlike simple spacer-style solutions, the T9404 replaces the factory diverter valve entirely. This allows it to address both sound and performance at the source, rather than simply redirecting vented air. The result is sharper response, stronger boost sealing, and a far more engaging driving experience.
Sound is fully configurable thanks to the removable extended trumpet. With the trumpet installed, the valve produces a loud, high-pitched whistle that stands out from anything else on the road. Remove it, and the sound changes to a more traditional, aggressive “whoosh”. Either way, subtlety is not the goal.
The T9404 also features adjustable spring preload, allowing you to fine-tune when the valve vents and for how long. A softer preload enables earlier and longer venting at lower engine loads, while a firmer preload limits venting to higher load conditions for a more controlled response.
Installation is clean and straightforward thanks to GFB’s integrated low-profile solenoid design. The over-under solenoid configuration allows the valve to fit neatly in the factory location with no clearance issues and no permanent modifications.
Beyond sound, the VTA platform improves drivability through GFB’s patented pilot-actuated piston design. Unlike the factory diverter valve, which operates in a simple open-or-closed manner, the VTA opens and closes progressively based on ECU demand. This smooths throttle transitions, reduces compressor surge, and preserves boost in the intercooler for faster recovery between gear changes.
The valve body and internal components are CNC machined from metal and sealed with a durable elastomer piston seal. This construction eliminates the boost leakage common with factory plastic valves and ensures reliable boost holding even at elevated pressure levels.
For drivers who want a quieter venting option, GFB offers the T9484 VTA. If no vent-to-atmosphere sound is desired at all, the DV+ T9384 is the recommended alternative.
