While the thickness of the factory standard FK8 radiator is quite large coming in at 27mm, coolant temperature during hard driving can exceed 100°C. In order to fully demonstrate the performance of the engine, it is essential to keep coolant temperature under control.
Generally as the thickness of a radiator core increases, the cooling efficiency rises. However as thickness increases, the airflow through the unit can decrease which reduces efficiency, as well as adding weight.
With rigorous design testing, Spoon have found the perfect balance for efficiency to be 36mm for the FK8 Type R. This design keeps coolant temperatures perfectly under control in hard driving conditions, while keeping weight to the bare minimum. Cooling efficiency is further improved by optimising the fin shape, creating the perfect, upgraded cooling solution for your vehicle.
Designed to be used with the factory fan shroud and condenser. An additional 1/8PT bung is included for the ability to add a temperature sensor.
