Developed through continual testing on track, the Spoon Sports Crane Neck Wing features has been designed to provide maximum downforce with minimal drag.
The crane/swan neck mounting system is designed to resemble a "crane", which is the symbol of Spoon. It also increases the aerodynamic efficiency of the wing compared to a traditional mounting system by maximising the effective surface area of the underside of the wing (the most important surface). The principle of GT wing downforce generation is mainly due to a pressure differential between the top and underside of the wing. This pressure differential is what creates the downforce and essentially "sucks" the car to the ground. Maximising the surface area on the underside of the wing has a large effect on creating more downforce and so the swan-neck shape that suspends the Spoon Sports wing is functional and stylish.
In addition, by repeating tests on the circuit and optimizing the strength of the wing stay, the angle of attack bends slightly at the end of the straight to reduce overall drag.
The wing, body mount and wing tip plate are made of carbon and the wing can be adjusted in 5 steps to achieve the optimal amount of downforce for any circumstance.
