A lightweight flywheel has tremendous benefits for engine performance, especially when it comes to high RPM, naturally aspirated engines. Spoon’s range of lightweight flywheels are specifically designed increase performance, while retaining OE strength and durability.
The reduction in weight reduces rotational inertia, which means the engine can rev up and down much more freely. This improves engine throttle response as the engine can rapidly adjust its speed. Transfer of power to the wheels is also increased as there is a reduction in the mass the engine/transmission must overcome.
Additionally, a lightweight flywheel can also improve gear shifts due to less kinetic energy being stored in the flywheel. This can lead to quicker clutch engagement and therefore a faster shift.
Spoon’s range of lightweight flywheels are dynamically balanced one by one to ensure product is perfect. Because of this, the drill holes differ slightly between each unit.
