When under hard cornering, acceleration and deceleration the oil in your oil pan has a tendency to slosh to one side, when this happens air can be sucked up into the pickup tube which results in no oil pressure and metal to metal contact. This metal to metal contact is devastating in your engine and results in explosively high temperatures. Tomei has built this baffle plate for just this problem, it is designed to keep oil low in the pan and prevents it from sloshing to one side. Another benefit of this is that it adds strength to the crank case support.
